School Business Affairs September 2020

publisher’s message 6 SEPTEMBER 2020 | SCHOOL BUSINESS AFFAIRS asbointl.org MORE MEMBERSHIP OPTIONS FOR YOU! I have exciting news to share! Per our Strategic Plan, the staff at HQ have been exploring different mem- bership models during the past few years to ensure we continue to meet the needs of school business profes- sionals around the world. We reviewed our membership trends, analyzed survey results, researched across our affiliates, and studied like associa- tions in the education field. Our goal: to identify the best membership structure for ASBO International. The role of the school business professional has never been more important—both in the classroom and in the business office. From accounting to facilities to trans- portation to technology, school business officials are involved in every aspect of a student’s learning. Having shared the background, we are excited to share that ASBO International is launching a new district-level membership. The district-level membership expands the reach of ASBO International beyond the CFO/Assistant Superintendent/School Business Manager titles and encourages members from all levels in the business office, as well as staff in other related departments (Human Resources, Transportation, Food and Nutrition, Informa- tion Technology, and more) to become involved. District-level membership includes one voting member per district and three copies of print publications ( School Business Affairs, School Business Leader, School Business Daily, School Business Minute, and Accents) as well as digital versions of all publications. District-level members qualify for member pricing on all ASBO International conferences, webinars, recognition programs, and certi- fication and gives them full access to the Global School Business Network, including discussion forums, resources libraries, and toolkits. This new category will enable ASBO International to reach deeper into the school district and provide resources and information without sacrificing our core goal of serving the school business official. Districts can roll existing memberships into a single district member- ship or allow specific individuals to retain their individual membership. Want to know more? Pat became frustrated trying to keep the chicken who thinks she’s a dog out of the house, and Laura wished she had a root cellar to store all the produce bursting out of her garden.
